Manuscript and Book Proposal Pit Crew

The manuscript and book proposal are completed, thanks to the last minute push by the pit crew. Both manuscript and proposal are on their way in the next step of their journey. Yay! Finally! Can you believe it?

Feeding you pizza hardly seems thanks enough for your rallying behind me in this final’ish lap. Thank you, Ken Warner, Jane Ray, Brad Bergland, Nancy Walczak, Pam Hett (and Rebecca Lotenero via email and phone)! What a gift. Pizza bribes aside, you rocked it!

Happy holidays, everyone!

Popping Up Like a Prairie Dog

Popping Up Like a Prairie Dog

Hey, everybody!  I am popping up like a prairie dog from a mountain of paperwork to check in.

My prairie dog is a little like Tron racing through a changing digital labyrinth. I leave my self breadcrumbs in real life and digitally while I shape and reshape the worlds of fiction with Andersen Light: A Mystic Creek Novel [working title]. My editor at kn literary arts has me hopping to create the best novel and book proposal I can. (Thanks, Rebecca!)

On occasion I pop up to say hi or head to the grocery store. More likely, I text Mom a good morning and jump back into it with my first cup of Darjeeling.

Popping Up Like a Prairie Dog! New Young Adult Fiction Author Tanya D. Dawson checking in again

While I’m here I want to say thanks to everyone for your support, especially my super spouse (I noticed the absence of blonde dog hair clouds wafting next to the hallway baseboards. You’re the best!), my neglected friends and family, and team players from The Hett Agency, and Sullivan Design, LLC.

New fiction author, Tanya D. Dawson, has written a story for the young adult in all of us. Her pending novel, Andersen Light: A Mystic Creek Novel [working title], brightens the sometimes dark world of YA and delivers the angst and the weird in this inspiring adventure of mystery, intrigue, and mysticism grounded in today’s world. While Andersen Light: A Mystic Creek Novel is primarily set on the West Coast, Tanya lives and works in the American Southwest.

Lessons Learning—Treading into the Somehow Process

Lessons Learning—Treading into the Somehow Process

First time writers who know diddly about the book process, like me, receive a powerful shock-a-rooni jolt of reality. Like, we believe we’ll write the book and somehow, as if by magic, it will get “out there”.

I still believe that—my grip on faith for courage is my creative life line—but there’s more to the somehow. Now that I am treading into the somehow I can tell you it is more hard work than magic, takes loads of research and question asking, posting stuff on social media, and a bunch of other things I won’t put you through here.

My current somehow continues to be the book proposal. I am writing the chapter abstracts now, chapter 17 out of 36. Next week I hope to report I have completed the chapter abstract section and am sailing through another.

I suspect we’re supposed to complain about this so people know we’re really working and not lying on the couch watching Acorn TV and eating chips and salsa. The truth is, even though I’m not certain of what I’m doing and wonder if the ice here is too thin, this work is worth getting Andersen Light: A Mystic Creek Novel, Georgie, Luther and the rest of the gang “out there” for you to meet. I love my work.
